Sorry for the delay in any new posts.  I am pleased to announce that I have been recouperating this summer from a kidney transplant.   After some issues of rejection, I and my new kidney are doing well.   Saw the doctor today and gave me the thumbs up that I am doing very well after all that I have gone through.   I did receive a kidney from a deceased donor after being on the list for 4 years.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of my donor.

Still looking for a kidney for my mom, Diane Rachey.  Therefore, keep spreading the word, not only for my mom but anyone in need of a kidney transplant.
I will update my website as soon as I can.
Thank you,
Susan

I am in the processes of establishing a non profit company called Medullary Cystic Kidney Disease Foundation.   Does not appear there are any other non profit foundations out there to raise funds to support efforts towards finding a cure and solutions to manage this disease.   This is a great way to utilize my time while running on dialysis.  Look for more info to come.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by my table at the  Crow River Thousand Hearts Server Day on Sunday and talked with me about living kidney organ donation.  Please help me to spread the word.
Have been feeling pretty good this week.   Received my blood work results back today (have done monthly) and they looked pretty good.  Still struggling with a high creatinine level of 14, that will take more dialysis to get down.

I will be at the Thousand Hearts Crow River Serve Day Sunday May 5, 2013 to help increase awareness of living kidney organ donation .   I will be located at Buffie Chiropractic Clinic.   Please refer to the following website link for more information on the event.   http://thousandhearts.weebly.com/

Today is the Great Chefs of America National Kidney Foundation Event.   I was asked to speak during the program.   I was honored to be asked.   They will be displaying my billboard on a PowerPoint while I am speaking, so hope to get some exposure.   I believe they are expecting 400 people, wow.   Need to raise awareness of living kidney donation and I hope I can help do that.

I am in the process of establishing a non profit called the Medullary Cystic Kidney Disease Foundation.    I have filed with the State and Federal, now just need to apply for section 501(c)(3) status.   From there I plan to establish a website and make plans to provide a resource for families and patients with this disease.   Goal is to do what we can to slow down or stop this disease; and increase awareness of living kidney donation.  More info to come.

Was able to get a way to Vegas for a few days with my family.   Vegas is a good place to go because it is so close to the airport, so much easier to get back to MN should I get called for a transplant.   I only have 8 hours to get to the U of MN if I am called for a transplant so have to consider that when doing any traveling.   Instead of bringing my dialysis machine with I did manual day bags every 4 hours.   This actually work pretty well, just had to schedule the day around my treatments, still was an inconvenience but made it work.   The trip was so relaxing, laid around the pool a couple days, just what the doctor ordered.   Now back at it.  Also was able to see my billboard, our gate was right by it.  Very impressive, thank you again to those that made it happen.   Also, thank you to those the visit my website as a result.

My billboard goes up today at the Mpls International Airport.   I am hoping this will draw people to my website and raise awareness of kidney donation and my need.   I am keeping my faith that a suitable donor will come forward soon.   The maintenance of my condition is quite tiring.  My billboard is in Concourse G north – gate 6.  See a picture of it above.

Good news, my fistula is still working!  This is such a relief.  Now I do not have to worry about a graph.   I will be ready when I need to switch to hemodialysis.   Keeping the faith.

Just need to have faith... it appears my fistula started to work, even though they said it would not.  I will find out when I go to the doctor next week.  Cross your fingers.
So excited, I have a billboard going up at the Mpls. International Airport.   I will post when it will be up and where.   Thank you to ClearChannel, Ingenuity Marketing and Lunderby Photography for making this happened!  THANK YOU!!

Had my fistula done last Thursday. Unfortunately found out today that the fistula does not work. So now need to discuss options with my doctor. Otherwise feeling pretty good after my last peritonitis infection. Thank you to everyone helping me spread the work of my story. Thank you Jill, members of Ingenuity Marketing, ClearChannel, Lunderby Photography, Waconia Patriot, South Crow River News/The Delano Eagle, Our Fathers Lutheran Church, KJGT Radio, family and friends.
